This eastern painted turtle is so tiny, but you wouldn’t be able to tell without the hand and fingers to give perspective.

Love this photo and love turtles. Absolutely right, without the hands, you would not get the sense of the tiny size of these beautiful turtles. On the opposite end of turtle sizes, I posted an article about the largest turtle living on our planet – the Pacific Leatherback turtle. They migrate from Indonesia to the Monterey Bay area (a 6,000 mile journey) to feed on abundant jellyfish here,.
